Local Futures works to strengthen local economies that put the well-being of people and the planet first.  Formerly known as the International Society for Ecology and Culture (ISEC), Local Futures has been raising awareness about the destructive impacts of globalization for more than four decades, while promoting localization as a systemic solution.

Local Futures is jointly based in Totnes, Devon, England and West Hardwick, Vermont, USA, and is worldwide in scope.  The organisation has close links with Ladakh in the Himalayas, and learns from the Ladakhi way of doing things.  Accordingly, Civic Revival is proud to count Local Futures as one of its Kindred Spirits and International Friends.

Local Futures established the International Alliance for Localization (IAL) as part of its work to build a localization movement powerful enough to turn the global tide. The IAL unites diverse groups and individuals in both North and South — from business leaders and labor unions to farmers, social justice activists and environmentalists — who share a common vision of localization as a powerful solution multiplier.  Over 900 people and groups from 58 different countries have joined the IAL to date.
